On Stage in September at Roger Rocka’s and around the Valley
Calamity Jane at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater
There are just a few performances left of Calamity Jane with Louise Mandrell at Roger Rocka’s. Though it has been wildly successful, it has to saddle up and ride into the sunset Sept. 16.
The show has been running full but with a little persistence and flexibility there’s still a chance to score some seats. It’s a good idea to call when the box office opens (at 10 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday) to see if there are any cancellations you can grab for the next performance. And even on a sold out night, there usually are a few single seats scattered around the house.
You can reach the box office at
266-9494 or 800-371-4747.
Calamity Jane is rated G.
A peek at the rehearsals
Singin’ in the Rain opens September 20
Rated G, for the whole family, this musical treasure is a perfect storm of singing, dancing, laughing and romancing.
Adapted from the great 1952 Hollywood musical with Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds, the show has lost none of its energy and charm.
“Its song-and-dance numbers are worked with some plausibility into the story, which is entertaining enough to be worth watching for its own sake, even if there were no singing or dancing. And yet it’s full of such joy that it demands singing and dancing; the musical elements aren’t just tacked on.”
“People who say they don’t like musicals should watch Singin’ in the Rain, and find out how sweet eating one’s words can be. People who say they do like musicals already know and love Singin’ in the Rain — otherwise they have no business saying they love musicals.”
Singin’ in the Rain is rated G.
