South Pacific

On stage March 19 through May 17 at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater is Rodgers and Hammerstein’s epic musical, South Pacific! This stirring story and masterful score illuminate the heroism, humor and heartbreak of American military men and women serving in WWII.

The story centers around a nurse from Arkansas stationed in the South Pacific. When she falls in love with a wealthy and sophisticated French planter and meets his bi-racial children, she must confront the reality of her own prejudice. With interwoven storylines of a U.S. lieutenant smitten by a young Tonkinese woman and the outrageous antics of lonely, love-starved Seabees, this wonderfully-wrought saga of Americans stationed in a foreign land is as relevant today as when it first took Broadway by storm.

The extraordinary score includes some of the best-known music in theatre history, with songs like, “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Younger Than Sprintime,” “Bali Ha’i,” “There Is Nothin’ Like A Dame,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair’ and “Honeybun.” Rated PG.
